With the perception of enabling comprehensive urban development, the State Institute of Urban Development was established in Mysuru in 1999. SIUD ranks among the prestigious institutions that were set up in the country with the objective of building capacities in the urban sector. Established by the Urban Development Department, Government of Karnataka, the Institute is registered under the Karnataka Societies Act, 1960.

With the State of Art training facilities, the institute is pioneer in fomenting the much needed demand for experts who comprehend with the realities of constantly changing urban scenario and reinvent the knowledge of urban management and help in building sustainable cities.

Located in the cultural city of Mysuru enroute to the famous Chamundi Hills, SIUD nestles in the scenic surroundings of the campus of Administrative Training Institute, an apex training institute in India. SIUD works in synergy with ATI. With its inherent ability to address multi-dimensional issues, it functions as the apex training institute of the State and dedicatedly addresses the needs of urban functionaries through capacity building, training, research and consultancy. The Institute is located at a distance of 4 kms from KSRTC bus stand and 6 kms from the city railway station, Mysuru.

SIUD facilitates approach to urban issues in a multi-faceted way. It guides in approaching urban reforms in a comprehensive manner.
